blindGram 14.4 Beta 1: voice to text in the message menu
blindGram 14.4 Beta 1 went out on August 9, 2026 on Telegram 12.9.2, with voice to text in the message menu and screen reader focus that stays on the message.
This beta went after two things a screen reader user meets every day: reaching Telegram's transcription of a voice message without hunting for a button that is only drawn on the bubble, and not losing your place when the app jumps to a message for you.
Voice to text in the message menu
- Telegram draws its transcription button on the voice bubble itself. The message menu now has a voice to text entry that says whether it will open or close the transcription. Like every other entry, you can move it or hide it under Ordering menu items, described on the Menu page.
Focus stays where you are reading
- After Show in reply and Go to marked message, the reading cursor stays on the message instead of slipping up to the action bar.
- Turning off a spoken field such as Reaction in Ordering Messages information takes effect at once. The change is kept even if you close the app from that screen, and chats that are already open stop reading the field.
Fixes
- The app no longer closes on start when Hide the bottom navigation bar is on.
- In the chat list, Back closes the search results instead of the whole app.
- The proxy settings entry no longer appears twice in More options, and with Always show Proxy settings in More options on, it stays available even when no proxy is in use.
- The debug menu opens from the chat list menu, on the Telegram version entry at the end.
- Reported bugs were fixed.
The final release followed two days later as blindGram 14.4. Betas are posted in @blindGram_BETA2, and the current release is on the download page.
