Telegram Login Codes and Unofficial Clients: What Changed in February 2023

An accessibility community notice shared on February 22, 2023, explained a Telegram sign-in change affecting unofficial clients such as blindGram.

From February 18, Telegram sent SMS codes for sign-in or registration only through its official app. Unofficial clients could still accept a verification code delivered inside an already signed-in Telegram session, but could not request the SMS directly.

For users moving to a new phone, this meant keeping access to an existing Telegram session or using the official client to receive the first code before signing in to blindGram. Telegram may change login rules again, so current on-screen instructions remain authoritative.
