Following the major release of [blindGram 15.0](/blog/2026-08-25/blindgram-15-0-ai-rich-messages-accessibility/), version 15.1 refines daily interaction for blind and visually-impaired users. The final build updates the core to Telegram 12.10.1 (7038) and introduces thoughtful accessibility features across messaging, media, and navigation. ### Granular message reading and gestures - **Read by character, word, or paragraph**: Messages in the chat view can now be traversed using your screen reader's own reading granularity controls (local reading controls). Instead of having to listen to an entire message at once, you can inspect spelling, read word-by-word, or navigate paragraph-by-paragraph directly inside any message cell. - **Screen reader long-press gesture**: The native double-tap-and-hold gesture on screen readers now reliably opens the message context menu for both regular chat messages and service messages. - **Independent voice playback slider**: Playing a voice message no longer turns the message node itself into a seek bar. While playback is active, an independent playback position stop appears beside the message, announcing elapsed time in words and allowing precise scrubbing via vertical swipe gestures. ### Better control over the keyboard and composer - **Don't open the keyboard automatically**: Replying, editing, quoting, or opening a chat no longer forces the on-screen keyboard open when this new option in General Settings is enabled. By keeping the keyboard closed until you explicitly tap the text field or a keyboard toggle, your screen reader cursor remains steady without unexpected layout shifts. Search bars, sheets, and dialogs continue to raise the keyboard normally. - **Cleaner composer buttons**: New options under General Settings allow hiding the 'AI Editor' and 'Rich Editor' buttons, as well as the Emoji, Silent/Notify, and Attachment buttons, eliminating redundant accessibility stops when composing messages or photo captions. - **Hide channel mute button**: Added a setting to hide the persistent bottom mute/unmute overlay button in channels. ### Smaller downloads and binary delta updates - **Optimized ARM APKs**: By dropping unused `x86` and `x86_64` emulator libraries from universal release packages, the universal APK download size has been reduced from ~81 MB to ~61 MB (saving ~20 MB or ~25% of bandwidth). - **Binary delta update patches**: Support for binary delta updates (`.patch`) enables rapid in-app updates with downloads measured in single-digit megabytes. Standalone per-architecture (per-ABI) APKs and an in-app "Check for beta updates" button in the blindGram Updates dialog provide faster and lighter updates. ### Navigation, folders, and media playback - **Numbered chat folders and accessible reordering**: Folder tabs and selection sheets announce each folder's numbered position. Folders can now be reordered using screen reader custom actions (Move Up / Move Down) or the handle popup menu, with spoken confirmation and optional haptic feedback. - **Continuous unread navigation**: When reaching the bottom of a channel or forum topic, swiping forward automatically transitions to the next unread channel or topic and announces its title, eliminating the previous bounce trap. - **Predictable media position memory**: Voice, music, and video playback resume memory strictly respects your settings—preserving positions across pauses, track changes, and player closures when enabled, and cleanly resetting when disabled. Completed tracks return to the beginning, and timestamp links seek directly. - **Audio player over live streams**: The global audio player bar now stays above channel live stream banners so playback controls remain accessible. - **Subdued transfer announcements**: Upload and download progress is only announced for the focused item and stays quiet during active audio playback. ### Background sync, calls, and stability - **Multi-account background synchronization**: Push notifications and message fetches are synchronized across all active accounts even when the app is closed, ensuring new messages are immediately available upon opening. - **Incoming VoIP calls**: Fixed an issue where the first incoming call after background sleep resulted in a busy tone, or a missed call caused subsequent incoming calls to be declined. - **Dictation and forwarding fixes**: Voice typing no longer overwrites existing text in the message field, and media captions are preserved when using Advanced Forward. - **Labeled buttons and stops**: Resolved unlabeled states on the Update Reactions button, community sheet action bars, Recent Actions help button, and empty chat message lists. Channel pinned message bars are now read in natural swipe sequence following the message list. - **Crash fixes**: Fixed OutOfMemory crashes when loading messages from storage or restoring large files, QuoteSpan and emoji suggestion bounds errors, thread collisions in notification cache and spoiler rendering, and topic list hangs.
