# How to Set Up an AI Provider in blindGram Assistant

blindGram Assistant can connect to several AI providers for accessible image descriptions, message questions, and summaries. Setup requires a provider account, API key, and compatible model.

### Setup steps

1. Install blindGram Assistant from blindGram Settings.
2. Open **Settings** > **blindGram Area** > **Assistant** > **AI**.
3. Choose OpenRouter, OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or Custom.
4. Enter the API key issued by that provider.
5. Select a model that supports the feature you need; image descriptions require vision support.
6. Enable the Assistant features you want.

API usage may be billed separately from a provider's consumer subscription. Keep keys private and revoke a key through the provider if it is exposed.
