# blindGram 14.4 adds the Assistant and updates inside the app

blindGram 14.4 Final, released August 11, 2026 on Telegram 12.9.2, introduced the optional blindGram Assistant, in-app updates, and settings rewritten for screen readers.

Until this release, blindGram helped you read Telegram. 14.4 adds a separate app, blindGram Assistant, for what is inside a message, and makes the app itself easier to run with a screen reader: settings that say what they do, an updater that no longer sends you to a channel for an APK, and fixes for lost focus.

### The blindGram Assistant

- blindGram Assistant is a separate, optional app installed from blindGram Area. It reads the text inside images, describes photos, and turns voice messages into text, and one install serves both blindGram and blindGram Plus. ### Updates and settings

- **Check for updates**, at the end of blindGram Area, downloads and installs a new version inside the app. An interrupted download continues from where it stopped instead of starting over.
- Every setting was rewritten and regrouped. Each row says in plain words what it does, anything with a hidden effect or risk has a description under it, and each screen is split into sections you can skip as a whole. Some settings moved to the screen they belong to.
- blindGram Area is now one of the bottom tabs, one move from the chat list.
- Ghost mode can be switched on from the General screen, so hiding its command with **Show Ghost mode in More options** no longer strands it.
- With the bottom bar hidden, **Merge bottom bar menu into More options** gives you one menu instead of two.
- **Fast transfer percentage announcements** speaks the percentage as it changes, if you prefer that to a quieter screen reader.

### Messages, voice, and files

- Voice to text joined the message menu. It says whether it opens or closes Telegram's transcription, and can be moved or hidden like every other entry.
- Turning off a spoken field such as Reaction takes effect at once and is kept even if you close the app from that screen.
- Focus stays on the message after **Show in reply** and **Go to marked message**, instead of slipping to the action bar.
- A long press on message text opens Telegram's own Copy and Quote for the selected part again.
- Downloaded files keep their real names, so you can find them in a file manager; a file with no name gets the date and time.
- Pausing a voice or round video recording says how long it is, and the length stays right while you drag the trim handles.

### License and stability

- A license can be bought online for Iranian numbers: 360, 180, 90 or 30 days, for yourself or for another contact.
- The proxy entry no longer appears twice in More options, and the debug menu opens from the Telegram version entry at the end of the chat list menu.
- Fixed the app closing on start with the bottom bar hidden, and Back closing the whole app instead of the chat list search results.
- Unexpected closes are reported once, automatically, so you do not have to describe the same fault by hand. Only the fault itself is sent; the [terms page](/terms/) says exactly what.
- Reported bugs were fixed.
