# Save streamed Telegram videos to the gallery in blindGram

Some Telegram videos refuse to save to the gallery or share as a file because they were streamed, not downloaded. One setting in blindGram fixes it.

### Why some videos will not save

Telegram can start playing a video before the whole file is on your phone, and depending on your connection speed it may fetch a different quality than the original. What it keeps is enough to play the video, but it is not a complete, ordinary file. That is why **Save to gallery** or sharing the video as a file can fail or end with nothing in your gallery. The blindGram channel published this workaround on March 13, 2025, and the setting it points to is still there in the current release.

### Turn off streaming in Data and Storage

1. Open Telegram's **Settings**. In blindGram that is the Settings tab at the bottom of the chat list; if you have hidden the bottom bar, it is inside the **Menu** button beside More options. When the notice was written, Settings still lived in the side drawer, which the app no longer has.
2. Open **Data and Storage**.
3. Under the **Streaming** heading, turn off **Stream Videos and Audio Files**.
4. Go back to the chat and download the video again. With streaming off, the whole file is fetched before it plays.
5. Now choose **Save to gallery** from the message menu or from More options in the media viewer, or share the video like any other file.

### What changes with streaming off

Playback waits until the download has finished, so on a slow connection a long video takes longer to start. In exchange, every video you open is a real file on your phone. Two blindGram Media settings decide what happens to it: **Save files with original names**, on by default, keeps the name the sender gave the file, and **Download folder** lets you choose where it is written, including a memory card. The same switch covers music and audio files, so you may prefer to leave streaming on for everyday listening and turn it off only while you need to keep a particular video. Whether a video downloads on its own at all is a separate matter, decided by **Auto-download small attachments** in the same Media screen.
