# blindGram 9.0 returns on Telegram 9.0.2 after a long migration

blindGram 9.0 Final, released September 30, 2022, moved the accessible Telegram client for blind users onto Telegram 9.0.2 after a long migration to new code.

This is an archived release announcement. The previous final release, blindGram 8.0, had shipped in December 2020 on Telegram 7.2.1. In the meantime Telegram had reworked large parts of its Android app and, in December 2021, [required unofficial clients to move to a newer codebase](/blog/2021-12-04/why-old-telegram-clients-stop-working/), which interrupted blindGram for a while. Carrying the accessibility layer over to that new code was a long migration, and 9.0 is the release that finished it.

### What 9.0 gives you

- The app runs on Telegram 9.0.2, so the features Telegram added in the meantime are back in an accessible client. Making those new features usable with a screen reader, such as reactions and voice and video group chats, was the work of the 9.x releases that followed.
- The standard APK was published in the official channel @blindGram, and blindGram Plus stayed a separate package for installing a second copy on one phone.

One week later, [blindGram 9.1](/blog/2022-10-07/blindgram-9-1-reactions-video-player/) made reactions, shared media and the video player accessible. Today's app is on the [download page](/download/).
