# Schedule Telegram messages in blindGram with a screen reader

Write a Telegram message now and let blindGram send it later. Here is how to reach Schedule message with a screen reader, pick a time, and manage the waiting messages.

### A spoken guide from 2019

On October 12, 2019, the week after [blindGram 5.0](/blog/2019-10-06/blindgram-5-0-audio-controls-privacy/) came out, blindGram shared a Persian audio guide by Shab-e Roshan that introduced Telegram's scheduled messages to blind users. Labels have changed since then, so the rest of this page describes the app as it is today. You can still listen to the [original Persian audio guide](https://t.me/blindGram/221) on the blindGram channel, produced by [Shab-e Roshan](https://t.me/shaberoshanIR).

### Why schedule a message

A scheduled message is written now and delivered at a time you choose, so you do not have to come back to the chat at that hour. A birthday wish, a reminder to a group before a meeting, a reply that should not land at midnight: you type it when it suits you and Telegram sends it when it suits them. In Saved Messages the same menu sets a reminder for yourself instead.

### Open the send options

1. Type the message as you normally would.
2. Do not activate Send. Hold it instead: with TalkBack, double-tap and hold the Send button. If you prefer, open your screen reader's actions menu on Send and choose **Open menu**, which does the same thing. blindGram accepts the hold anywhere on the button, so a screen reader's gesture is no longer lost the way it once was.
3. A short menu opens. It has **Schedule message** (in Saved Messages it is **Set a reminder**), **Send without sound** and, in a private chat, **Send When Online**.

### Pick the day and time

Choose **Schedule message**. A picker opens with the day, the hour and the minute; set each one, starting from Today. The same picker has a button that decides whether the message makes a sound when it arrives, and blindGram labels it with the action it will take: **Send silently** or **Send notifications**. Activate the confirm button at the bottom and the message is stored with the time you chose.

### Find, change or cancel a scheduled message

Once a chat has something scheduled, a **Scheduled Messages** button appears beside the message field. It opens the list of everything waiting in that chat. Each entry has its own menu with **Send Now**, **Reschedule** and **Delete**. With **Single tap opens menu for every message** on under Menu in blindGram Area, that menu opens with a single tap, as it does everywhere else in the app.

The message menu settings are described on the [Menu settings page](/docs/menu/).
