# blindGram 5.0: voice message rewind, no more license checks

blindGram 5.0 Final, released October 6, 2019 on Telegram 5.11.0, added rewind and fast-forward for voice and music and stopped license checks at sign-in.

This is an archived announcement from the blindGram channel. Version 5.0 did two things at once: it made moving around inside audio much easier for a screen reader user, and it changed how blindGram paid for itself.

### Rewind and fast-forward for audio

Before 5.0, moving inside a voice message or a song meant finding and dragging a seek bar, which is slow and imprecise with a screen reader. 5.0 added rewind and fast-forward controls for voice messages and music, so you press a button and jump a fixed step. Holding the fast-playback control changed the playback speed. Both ideas are still in blindGram: the step size and the faster speed are rows under Media in the blindGram Area, and [the Media settings guide](/docs/media/) lists each one.

### Reading and writing

- A new button took you to the first message of a conversation.
- Editing text through TalkBack's local context menu worked again.
- Problems reported with the writing field and with navigation were fixed.

### Free, donation-supported, no license check at sign-in

With 5.0, blindGram became free and donation-supported, and it stopped checking licenses when you signed in. The announcement said your phone number would no longer be sent to blindGram's servers for a license check. That was the arrangement in 2019. blindGram has since gone back to a license tied to your phone number, and [the purchase page](/buy/) describes how that works now.
